Best Names & Nicknames Through The Years

“2K” Ferguson is our 2015-16 Nickname of the Year. Similar to our Names of the Year going back to to the 1969-70 season, we’ve also have Nicknames of the Year going back to the 1954-55 season. Many of these players were all-state level and above performers performers with nicknames coined while still in high school. There have been tons of nicknames given out through the years, but these are some of the most memorable or appropriate for that particular time. Read more…

Final, Expanded 2015-16 FAB 50 Rankings

All 50 ranked teams written up with explanations for why they were placed in these positions with comparisons to preseason ranking. The FAB 50 National Team Rankings powered by is the official rankings of the National Sports News Service, which date back to the 1952 season. Chino Hills of California is the 2015-16 mythical national champion, the first from California since 1999-00 (Dominguez of Compton) and the first unbeaten California national champ since 1979-80 (Inglewood).

Each State’s Highest Ranked Team (1988-2016)

Here is a state-by-state list of the highest end-of-season rankings for boys’ basketball teams since a version of the Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 poll began for the 1987-88 season. Chino Hills is now considered the second team from California to earn the No. 1 ranking in the FAB 50 era.
